Harrogate Show 9 - 11 May
« on: April 30, 2014, 12:40:17 PM »
Hi Guys,

As a full time lurker I've been picking up tips and inspiration from the site for a few months. If anyone is proposing to visit the Harrogate Show it would be nice to put a face to the name(s) and sup a pint. As of now I'll be there on the Friday, but that's a movable feast.

Anyone?

Eug

Is there a fixed venue or stand at the show where folks can meet up at a certain time? When I go to the Game Fair(s) and meet others, we gather at the BASC stand at midday and have a natter / pint / sandwich.

As to catering, I was in Harrogate last week at Harlow Carr and Harewood House; unbelievable prices for just tea and a bun. Whats the show grub like? Can you take your own?

Aaww..... Sorry Dek.
Unfortunately, I can't stand for more than an hour at a time. Especially on concrete, or damp grass.  :(

The Surgeon said, a 5 year guarantee. If I was lucky! That was 2005........ I'm lucky!   :D

Eug.
Straight across the hall, from the entry doors, is a large picture window. Ideal for the purpose.

Last year, I suggested the Chester stand. They went and moved it!  :bang:

I've always taken my own food & drink. Popped out to the car for a break, and sandwiches, after meeting the Lads.

Hope you all have a great day.

I'm planning on being there on Saturday. As I'm currently partly immobilised I'll be easy to spot as I'll either be on crutches or in a wheelchair (wife's idea). Due to this I'll probably leave it until after lunch when the crush has died down. Normally I'm there when the doors open. Anyone spots me and wants to say hello feel free.

David, do like Gary, try and borrow a wheelchair !!!  John, I will keep my ears open near the entrance for someone complaining about being two quid short of the entrance fee :).

Cheers Dek. :med:

Sorry, Dek.
I always found it too crowded to move around, when upright. Can't imagine having to get about, through the throng, in a chair!  :(

Had thought of a Modderfication. :mmr:   Helium balloons. To lift the weight off me joints.

I'm not that sure about the idea myself David. I certainly didn't fancy it on crutches though, likely to spend as much time on the floor as upright.

If I was just going for the day I probably wouldn't bother but we make a weekend of it and the wife wants her weekend in Harrogate. I really just wanted to have a good look at a WM-250V on the Warco stand with a view to buying later in the year.

Just to confirm ... I'll be there on the Friday, early doors.

In the absence of a white Tuxedo, red carnation, or a rolled up copy of Pravda, at 12.30 by the big window I'll be wearing a "Sthil" cap. If no one turns up I'll be disappointed but then I've been stood up by better looking people than I suspect any MadModders are!

Hi Eug,

See you there at 12:30.

I won't be wearing a hat or a tux.

If I get chance I might make myself a Madmodder badge.

Cheers.

Clearly what is needed is some kind of Madmodder Masonic Handshake.
