Title: RIP Peter Forbes
Post by: awemawson on March 16, 2018, 06:55:35 PM
Very sadly I have to report the loss of Peter Forbes.

Peter was very active 15 or so years ago on the uk.rec.models.engineering newsgroup before the internet had developed as it is now. There were several of us who habitually lived there as one of the few places for sensible discussion.

We've lost from that group of people John Stevenson, Mark McGrath, Tim Leech and now Peter Forbes.

Peter was an expert on Lister Diesels, and ran the Old Engine forum. I last met him totally by chance when I was researching my Traub lathe - I'd tracked down a factory in the midlands where there were several, arranged to have a day with the owner, only to find Peter occupied the next door factory and was his tenant!

A very generous and helpful fellow who will be much missed, my condolences to his family and friends.

...heck ....there aren't many of us left from the group . . . .

Not familiar with Peter Forbes... But it is sad when we lose someone from any aspect of this hobby.

RIP
