Title: Hello from Arizona
Post by: 3ruedas on November 18, 2009, 11:10:58 AM
WOW!!! Stumbled upon this site and I am just amazed of all the ideas and the "make it work with what you have" attitude. Originally from Mexico I am very familiar with the concept of modifying an item to make it work longer or change the actual purpose of said item. Hope I can contribute to this board some in the near future. Still learning about machining and hope to some day retire and move to a fishing village in Mexico's Sea of Cortez to open my own little shop. Thanks

Thanks for the warm welcome, I am a fire inspector and been in the fire service for the last 6 years and was in the ARMY as a medic before that. I got the machining bug while in Douglas AZ, went across the border to Mexico and hung around the shop with an old machinist, I was blown away by the stuff he was making, AR-15 lowers for the Mexican army and injection molds for the factories. The amount of odd jobs he got during the day was also amazing and he always found a way to make it work from well drilling parts to printing presses. I have always had the metal working bug but it was mostly wrought iron and a little bit of blacksmithing. Been getting tools for machining and now have a mill, lathe and a shaper with a few accessories definitely a long way to go . Once again thanks.
