Title: Modified P-38
Post by: vtsteam on March 10, 2013, 05:35:03 PM
This is a plane that I eventually modified into a P-38. It was originally a Foamflyer S0-11 -- a sort of blocky shaped easy to build model made of expanded bead styrofoam. The original was a pusher with two square booms and a square fuselage, and rectangular wings. Here's Foamflyer's original model on which mine was based -- I don't have a photo of my own.

It was a good flyer, and I often wondered if something similar could be built that looked more like a P-38.

After I'd crunched my SO-11 so many times that it was becoming an embarassment to fly, I hit on the idea of after every crash gradually adding new pieces of foam that looked more like a lightning -- eventually repairing it into the other plane. It worked better than I had imagined! Here is the result:

(And a video link  below the picture -- hope it works -- let me know if it doesn't!)
