:D...at last.! Home..!! This is the place for me...wow..I've been so alone in this world, locked away in my garage workshop beavering and grinding until the early hours and then to work as slave labour just to come back to the garage. Now I have friends..and I though it was just me...wow. Hello all..!

To be honest.....not a lot of making...but I have acquired some machines (lathe, miller, drill, power hacksaw..etc.) which was sold off by my local model engineer club on behalf of the family of a recently deceased member. So my time has been spent fettling and setting-up the machines and accessories and learning to use them again as it has been 50-odd years since I last worked with them, (as a teenager at technical college). I am preparing for retirement and have a huge, huge desire to build steam engines. So this is the perfect place for me....many thanks to all who contribute. Consider me a novice-in-need but I'm very happy I grabbed your attention...thanks. :D

...Welcome from the better side of the Pennines...
He means the warm side; where all the softies live.
Good to see you have joined us.
Dave. :D
From Keighley, still on the cool side of the hill.

Definitely warmer but usually much wetter. I'm very much a softie that wouldn't survive in Yorkshire.

Will post some pics when I can. Must take some first and I decided to investigate cylinder and piston design. I want to figure out how they work and the different valve arrangements. I want to see how to build them from stock. Drawings, pics and ideas always welcome...but on this site it will take years of trawling to read everything...great library it's developed into. Thanks everyone for the welcomes.
