Title: Hello everybody
Post by: Andy on June 13, 2009, 08:09:35 AM
I’ve been looking at this forum for a while and I’m very impressed by the friendly and civilised way that members share their knowledge. I’ve found it very inspirational. So here I am, but I don’t expect to be able to contribute much. Although I got my first lathe about ten years ago I’ve not done a lot, due to other hobbies and commitments.

My shop is very small indeed – I may post some photos later – and contains a Taig microlathe (now used for small milling jobs only), a fairly big Axminster pillar drill and a Seig C3 type lathe, Chester variant.

So far these have been used for making bits and pieces for 17th Century re-enactment, such as powder flask and musket lock parts, the inevitable improvement of existing workshop equipment and some work on small (but not model) stationary engines. There is also a box full of part-made steam engine projects which I’d like to finish once I have all the necessary skills (and confidence).

Hi Andy

Welcome to the collective  :borg:

Doesn't matter if the steam engines are model, small or large... Anything is really acceptable here. Same with the 17th century re-enactment stuff. Post up some pictures!

Hi Andy  welcome aboard the cube  :borg:

Is it civil war enactment your into or war of the Roses stuff, its great fun they have a big civil war enactment near use every year (battle of Natwich) and boy do those guys and girls go at it, and they sink a few bears just to get in the mood.

We're not to fussy what your projects are on her because  :proj: is worse than pig flue.

Just have fun and join in the fun

Cheers

Stew

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps.
sbwhart - yes, it is English Civil War that I do, I'm a member of the Sealed Knot. Enjoyed the Nantwich event earlier this year. Very atmospheric, very muddy. It's a great hobby but the workshop provides a nice quiet contrast to it.
