These are not good pictures

David,
You seem to have managed to upload some photos! The second one is a good size.
By the way, it was the plate next to the Threading indicator that we were interested in.
Regards, Matthew

It's hard to tell, but I think that 3-jaw in the 1st picture would be the original that came with the lathe... which, based on your serial number, probably qualifies it for one of the oldest chucks ever pictured on MadModder? (1930).

There is a small badge on the front of the chuck at the weekend I will try to see if I can clean it and find a name hopefully .cheer's from Perth
-
The three jaw chuck , the first line says Chas Taylor Birmingham LTD the second line says Chuck the bottom line says Made in England cheers from Perth Australia
-
Some good information on those chucks here: http://www.lathes.co.uk/taylor/page3.html
The older Edgwick recently seen on eBay had one of those chucks, so if yours matches I think we can suggest that Edgwick made a deal with Chas Taylor to supply chucks for their lathes.

Thanks for that link, from the picture that is the chuck I have this lathe is becoming more and more interesting as time goes by and to think they were going to sell for scrap if they could not sell it. It looks like I saved a piece of history.

I will take some more pictures of the chuck
