Title: Does anyone know howto make -10AN coupling?
Post by: NeoTech on May 05, 2013, 02:52:05 PM
Its basicly a hose fitting that when tightened will seal itself. Both against another coupling and towards the hose part and protect the user from getting fingers fubard by the hose steel braid.
I use quiet alot of these.. and they are quite expensive.. Being able to make em would help alot. :)

Is this what you are looking for?

If not, I have nearly every Aerospace-National fitting specification known to (US) DoD.

That was somewhat helpful but im more looking for the ones that has a compression nut that locks the hose into place

Neo,

Aerospace National (they used to be called Army-Navy) are a 37° tubing flare fitting.  SAE fittings are 45° tubing flare fittings.  That was what threw me.  The AN-10 size is designed to fit 5/8 inch diameter tubing.

It looks to me as if you have some kind of coupler that is pinned to a compression hose fitting.  As I cannot see into the "end" of the coupler, I can only guess.  Tapered pipe threads are the most common coupler interface.  JIC (also called MS, because they started out as a (US) Military Specification) fittings have a straight (UN fine) thread and a radial o-ring seat (for high hydraulic pressure operations) and are the next most common coupler interface.  A (slip-fit to tube) weld socket is not uncommon in these types of couplers.

I usually work with swaged-on fittings when dealing is hose.  Otherwise (in case you couldn't tell) my hydraulic work is with drawn tube assemblies.

Neo,

Check out http://www.discounthydraulichose.com/SAE_100R2AT_Reusable_Hose_Fittings_s/63.htm -- I believe you are looking for an SAE 100R2AT or SAE 100R5 type of fitting.
