Title: 4 jaw as a 3 jaw
Post by: chipenter on November 11, 2017, 10:06:03 AM
I was gifted a Stuart 7A that had been abandoned , turning the crank shaft was a problem holding it to turn the big end , to get the 3/8" offset went pased the jaws so I just used 3 , I am shure I am not the first to do this but felt it was worth passing on .

I've done it in a pinch, but a better way would be to turn a split collar say 1" OD so you can pinch the small journal and still get 4 jaws on the collar.

 Hi Guys
I agree, with Pete and use a split collar. I keep various sizes of split collars, and some blanks to make specials.

                                                                  Cheers David
