Title: extreme martial arts trainer.
Post by: shipto on February 17, 2015, 04:37:06 PM
I have many ideas going through my head and one keeps coming back to me from my muay thai days and since I have been working with the arduino lately a way to achieve it has occured to me.
The idea is to have a padded pillar fed by a air compressor that give a sound and a light at random heights for the person to hit, kick, knee or elbow as the feeling takes them. Now if the person does not hit the lit target in X time that target will shoot a tennis ball at them. The pillar could be programs for varying times, difficulty and how much the user wants to feel any mistakes (pressure applied to ball).
Now the clever bit is to have more than one pillar say up to four communicating to simulate multiple attackers meaning the user would have to keep turning around and attacking in more than one direction again all programmed for difficulty.
Thoughts?

Mad, MADDER, Even More MAD!

What a Mad project.

 :nrocks:

And when they get used to it just up the pressure and use cricket balls!

Thats sounds like a trip to the courts may be in near future.
Even using tennis balls there will have to be limits on the pressure that can be applied behind them, I noticed many times that when the person has been at this stuff for a while the confidence sometimes gets the better of them.
We had one young kid who insisted on doing the Ali shuffle every now and then despite the fact that most of his opponents would simply rush in while he was messing about and he usually ended up on the floor because his stance was so bad.

That sounds pretty cool!

But Dwayne, you've got to name it Cato. I can just see a scene in a Peter Sellars movie with this thing gone berserk lobbing tennis balls whenever he opens a closet.

Well, on second thought, maybe that's not the best image for advertising it.....

Make it!!!

Need to swat up on the arduino programming I guess then or collaberate with someone who is already proficient.
