Title: Shardlow Mini internal mic
Post by: Mike4 on December 10, 2017, 05:48:22 PM
I recently bought one of these well made internal mics, however earlier in its life some gorilla has broken the thread off the handle and over tightened the retainer screw.

I have managed to grind the end off the retainer screw and get it out , however I have no means of determining the original threads used one either of these as one is missing and the other is too badly mutiliated to measure with any certainty.

Does anyone have a lead to the pitch of these threads as I would like to restore this instrument and use it in the shop.

I assume that these small threads would be BA ,but I dont have the screws so this might sit and collect dust for a while.

Know anyone locally with a Shadowgraph who could measure them for you?

I'd offer the use of mine but I think that you're in the Antipodes so a bit of a long trip to Blighty?

Took a gamble and bought several BA taps and Dies, one 7BA seems to be ok.

I find it strange that no one had or remembered these internal mics as their small size is well within modelling parameters.

Thanks anyway to awemawson  your reply steered me in the right direction.
