Good morning Rob

two monitors will be great when you are using  your CAD  software
in a few weeks when its running just as you want it
can we expect a new series of astonishing  projects

I'll have to make a note of the classic shell software
do they have one that looks like your using Norton Desktop for DOS ?

at some time I'll have to fix my dead laptop with a new one
(a replacement main board is almost as expensive as another laptop)

too many software engineers loose sight of what they are supposed to be doing -
making products that’s simple and intuitive for the public to use
and start showing off to each other

I think part of the problem is that Microsoft is repositioning itself for the growing tablet and smartphone market, rather than desktops and laptops, sales of which are declining.

Back from a months break in Spain. No phone, no telly, no PC and NO Windows 8. Simply trying to get my wife fitter after an operation which was in March that-went wrong! Enough of our problems but before all this this, I had my not so old Windows7 PC hacked.  Thought that I'd move into what passes for the 21st Century and install Windows 8 and perhaps teach my wife how to switch on her lap top.

Took a helluva a lot of loading but it I could get E-mails and read 'Mad Modder' Thought that I'd load the photos of the grand kids and the quite sizeable collection of model engineering stuff from CD's and DVD's.

NADA or as they say here in Geordieland - Sweet FA.

So back  to Windows 7?  Oh No!. Promises, Promises! Back to the wife's unused Vista lap top for advice.
I wasn't alone- the British Daily Telegraph newspaper was also howling warnings- that they couldn't manage.

Tripped off to my local PC World and for 50 quid am back to what goes here for normal.

As I left PC World, the news came that Bill Gates reckons that no one uses CD and DVD's anymore.

So there is a Raspberry Pi- and a heap of old computer bits left.
Hasta la Vista- as they say on my wife's unused cheapy Tesco lap top.
