Hi there folks, from a sunny Scotland.
I'm here because a good mate of mine, Stilldrillin, pointed the way a couple of days ago. I've had a look around and I must say I'm really impressed.
I'm an engineer to trade, (Fitter) though I spent the last twenty years in a management position with the civil service. I'm sixty years young and have been retired for eight years.
My particular interest is restoring toy steam engines, and I've been a moderator on a toy steam forum for some years now.
Looking at some of the wonderful stuff that goes on here, I must say that I'm a bit overwhelmed. Because of lack of space in my little workshop, I don't have a lathe. I manage to produce simple spare parts by clamping my trusty power drill in a vice and using an array of files, taps and dies. I must say I've managed reasonably well up to now.
I look forward to learning so much here, and getting some new ideas to help me on my way.
Sandy.

Welcome Sandy,
It isn't all machining here, but if that is what you want, there is plenty to get your teeth into.
When I was a kid, your methods were the only things available to me, so it is nothing to be ashamed of, if it will do the job, what more do you want?
Just pull up a chair and bide awhile.

Hi Sandy!
Welcome to the collective :borg:
As Bogs said, we aren't all about the machine tools here... There are of course many ways to get results.
Lets see some pictures of your restored engines.

Hi Sandy,
Always nice to have some one talented here. How can I say that? Simple. Anybody that can use basic tools to get things done has got talent.
So welcome to the :borg: collective (as it's fondly come to be known).
From your intro I see that you could catch :proj: very easy. Nothing here is :offtopic: either, well, with in reason. :)
And as you already know :mmr:, so welcome aboard and like Eric said, lets see some pics if you have any.
Regards,
Bernd

Hi Sandy
I'm a little late to the party (I've been lounging around all weekend!)
Looks like you've had a warm enough welcome.
Pic's of your work would be nice (In the right section of course!) if you have the facility?
Right, got 3 days worth of posts to view!!!
See you around the pages :)
Ralph.
