Title: Gear Cutter
Post by: chipenter on September 14, 2013, 02:06:48 AM
Some time ago I read an article about making gear cutters on a lathe , using two pins a set distance apart I found a program on Marv Klutz's  web site that works out the size and distances for the pins and the in feed , I made a couple and they worked , looking at them I thought that they could be made on a mill with a indexing head a lot easier using an end mill , the re-leaf angles are 15 degrees as I used a 24 hole dividing ring and they work just as well .

Pic's are to big for my tablet but anyone can see them if they use the view picture on their puter or tablet.

I found a program on Marv Klutz's  web site

Klotz, not "Klutz".  I'm German, not Yiddish.

So if it was "Kloutz" would that be German / Yiddish ?

Sorry Marv I am dyslexic no sleight intended , the cutter sort of worked the re leaf angle needs to be greater , cut a mild steel gear and the cutter rubbed 15 degrees wasn't enough ,
