Title: Schluter corner
Post by: WeldingRod on October 03, 2018, 10:53:47 AM
I'm getting remodelled right now; whee.
The tile work is getting some aluminum corner strips made by Schluter.  For some weird reason they only make inside corner blocks for this stuff.  The first photo is the professional corner that goes the wrong direction (though I'm going to use it in another place).
Next up is the blank with the huge radius cut into it.  Geeze that sucker chattered like mad!  Gotta improve that radius cutter.  After I build a chicken coop, clean the shop, set the quorn on its new stand, move the surface plate to its new drawer... you know, the usual ;-)
Then, its off to the mill for quality time with a long 1/8" end mill.  I cut off just about everything, leaving the tabs and the center connected together.  A quick pass with the razor saw split them into two, and I parted them off on the lathe.
Quite a bit of lovin' with the file got them fitting nicely.
And finally a "I can't believe you made that" in multiple senses from my wife after its posed on the countertop material that it trims around.

Nice work. That is weird they don't do an outside corner though.

Maybe you are just supposed to cut at 45deg.

But how would my machines know I love them ;-)

I think schluter never expected anyone to need to turn this direction.  This is a "bottom edge only" extrusion.
