Title: Making a large partial gear..

Anyone have any idea how to go about making one of these..
I wanna make a tool that can hold a 5C spin indexer and "angle" downwards and side, and the spinindexer provides axial degrees (for making tooling with strange angles).

Just mount the quadrant blank onto a large piece of plate or flat bar fixed to the rotary table to get the required radius.

A/Rotary table and a slotting head on a knee mill

B/ Rotary table, right angle head with an involute gear cutter on a knee mill

C/ Shaping machine and rotary table on an angle plate

D/ Draw it in CAD, print it, glue to plate and file to shape


Personally I'd try to avoid plan D/  :beer:

I think it will be Plan B though seems easiest..  never cut gears before should try my hands at a couple i guess..
Thanks for suggestions.. mounting something to the rotary table to extend it hadnt hit me at all ..   :scratch: *stopid*

Plan E... Mount on spacers on lathe's faceplate and cut radius, gear (or gear.train) on back of spindle to index, form tool in toolpost and Armstrong the carriage to cut the teeth...
