Title: Tesla coil vehicle finder
Post by: Tinkering_Guy on August 12, 2015, 12:59:47 PM
I just had a random thought..  You know how some people stick something on the top of their vehicle's radio antenna to make it easy to find in a car park?  Like a giant plastic sunflower, etc.?
Or they click their remote and the vehicle feeps for a 'Here I Am!' response?

What if someone combined these two, and instead of a remote-click resulting in a honk, it triggered a corona discharge from the tip of the antenna?

Admittedly you'd have to take care to not fry bystanders (though making them jump out of their shoon is okey ), and I'm not sure the geometry of the antenna tip would lend itself to this, but..

..wouldn't it be Neat Stuff?

Better yet, mount a set of rabbit ears and make a Jacob's ladder.

Though admittedly magnitudes more dangerous than the secondary Tesla Coil.

That should knock out all those annoying cellphones, too, as well as the less ruggedized onboard computer controls in nearby parked vehicles. Just check first with your own smogger.

If you can get ahold of some ancient photographic film you could x-ray your teeth with it, too, by laying your head on the bonnet, and save some money at the dentist!  :I like it!

It would be good for the ozone layer as well.
