Title: Another (not as good as Ross's) log store
Post by: DaveH on September 07, 2013, 12:44:11 PM
Hi,
This is my log store, no where near as good or as well made as Ross's. No proper joints just sawed, slapped on and screwed  :)

This is what it should look like, or in my case this is the starting point.
It measures 2m long, 2m high and 1m deep.

Note to Ross - notice the sides, stops the logs from falling out

So after a bit of sawing and 72 screws later the base.

Looks a bit like a 'pallet'    but it still resembles the sketch  :)

Done the two sides.
Given the base and the two sides a couple of coats of wood preservative.
Just to say the two sides are shown upside down.

Fixed the sides on and the steel bracing at the back. (Still looks like the sketch  :) )

Looking good to me so far.  nothing wrong with practical, I tend to like that style myself.  I think yours will probably work better than mine

it occurred to me, too late that my back braces should have been as big as yours.  maybe you should have showed me yours first

What did you design it on?

I'm a bit of a cheap skate - the wood I used was 'packing case wood' ......... cheap.
25mm thick x 114 wide although it varied quite a bit  :( anything from 20 to 30 thick
Cost about 40 squids and the wood preservative cost about the same.

Dat looks sunnnyyy!

Actually, it was pretty sunny here too. Barbequed some ribs, zuchini, chilies, bell-peppers and some other vegetables. Went down pretty fast. Maybe I should have been building the log store as well. There are some extra trees I have to cut in the winter.
