Title: 1927 doll toy steam engine repair
Post by: davidcurtis021 on March 14, 2010, 04:16:09 PM
while i wait to buy a lathe i thought i might make a start on this piece from germany its a 1927 doll 314/1 so i'm told i'm still trying to find pictures or dimensions from an original so i'm havong to work with what i have

As the pictures show a new firebox needs to be fashioned as well as a new boiler tube

boiler endcaps will be reused as as will all the moition gear with the exeption of the homemade flywheel i know a six spoked flywheel is what should be there so until i have dimensions and instruction from my tutor that part will remain uncompleted
the rest should be doable with a drill press and hand tools.

By `ek David!  There`s some work needed there!   :bugeye:

Can you replicate the brickwork type firebox?

Using an old Jensen box might cause a stir......... (http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0001.gif) (http://www.mysmiley.net)

yes i think so david i have some wilesco panels with the same brick profile its just whether i can make the cutouts suit. i have a spare doll whistle and a safety valve on another doll engine as a template it isnt really important to be a hundred percent genuine as its already been well and truly modified.
