Hello all!
I have been machining since 1969. First in school, then working in a machine shop. Now I have my own small CNC shop. This shows the ongoing progress of getting it up and running (click on Shop):

I've made tooling, plastic injection molds, assembly machines, and computer controlled machinery. I have been involved in several start-up companies where I designed, built and tested electric motors, plus made the dynomometers to do the tests. I've also been involved in the development of several products.
My passion is airplanes. From my youth, I built control line models then graduated to R/C, and finally to full size. I have built several aircraft in my computer and I am trying to figure out how to get them out. My avatar is one of them. To learn about programming embedded microcontrollers, I designed an electronic digital tachometer to put in my airplane when it's built. You can see the process here (click on Tachometer):

I also dabble in stone turning as my artistic expression. Here are examples:

I stumbled upon this web site by googling aluminum anodizing. It came up with Tom's anodizing bench. I am intrigued with what I saw, so I joined in!

Hello & Welcome

Hi AeroHawk. I too have loved planes since I was a boy and flew C/L to start with, now R/C. I also flew ultralights in Florida when I lived their and once owned a Wizard J3b U/L.
I do some of my model plane designing in SketchUp, and also some CNC stuff through that using PhlatBoyz G-code generator add-on.
Looking forward to your contributions here.!

Thanks for all the greetings! I am surprised that so many of you are form the UK. I guess it is my yankee arogance :bugeye:. My apologies....
It's great though, it seems that Europe is more "old school" (maybe it's because the "school" really is older ).
I've started on my own version of Tom's anodizing bench. I had originally planned on a stationary installation, but Tom's idea is so good that I am stealing it .
I have some tubs and battery acid already. I have ordered a constant current power supply, and will place an order to Caswell for dye and other supplies tomorrow. When I start building, I'll be sure to post....

Hi Cris,
I am, as I bill myself, an insulting mechanical design & development engineer located in Lake Stevens, WA. If you will e-mail me your contact information, I can see about sending some work your way. I am tangent@olympus.net (as in what I'm always off on). Weird and strange is my normal... -- Lew
