Title: New Member from Indiana
Post by: jbonham on May 03, 2014, 03:36:11 PM
Hello from Mishawaka, IN
My name is Jim and I'm a retired industrial arts teacher. Lasted 36 1/2 years!  I've  always been interested in all things
mechanical.  I now have a shop in the basement of my home where I have a 9" South Bend lathe that my father bought new
in the 50's.  A Rockwell mill that I have added a DRO, power down spindle and power x feed on the table.  Projects so far are
include Fords's 1st engine and in the process of building 2  of Bob Shores Hercules.  I just returned from the NAMES model show in the Detroit area and realize how far behind I am!!  Make lots of stupid mistakes but keep plodding along.

Hi Jim!

Welcome to the Collective.  :borg:

You've come to the right place. Lots of people here, with lots of answers. Probably, all different!

Looking forward to seeing your work.

Welcome Jim!

I'd like to see a pic of your powered down-feed. Do you mean that the quill is powered? What was the reason for doing that?

Hello & Welcome Jim,

I too would like to see how you did that.  One of my projects is designing a X feed drive for my mill.  Mind you my round tuit pile is getting bigger daily...   :coffee:
