Title: Stealing posts
Post by: Davo J on November 05, 2011, 06:23:34 AM
Hi all,
I was just reading on PM that a new site has started up and are stealing posts from their and posting them on this new site. Once they are on this site the name is changed and no credit is given to the original poster.

I had a quick look and found
FS: Coaxial Indicator (all profits to Royal Britis
Which was posted by a Loren. I hope Bill Todd corrects me if I am wrong here, but it looks like his post was stolen from here.

As for others I don't know as I haven't been through the site and won't be, as I think a site which needs to steal posts with no credits to the original author is not worth visiting.

Here is a link to Bills post
http://machinistsforum.com/Tooling-Parts-and-Accessories-For-Sale-or-Wanted/507-FS-Coaxial-Indicator-all-profits-to-Royal-Britis.html

And here is a link to the thread in PM about it all. This thread is said to be getting deleted so it doesn't help this new site with any links, so it may not work for long.

A lot of the posts on there have been stolen from Practical Machinist's forum.

They are looking into it and it looks like it may turn into a legal battle.

That Loren person seems to be doing a lot of work.... :hammer:

Let it be known that the Madmodder Moderators are aware of the situation. Mr. Nelson was a member of the forum at one time.

Thanks for this Dave. I wasn't aware my post had been copied like that. It is probably the one I posted on the PM site since that's from where the bulk of threads have been lifted.

No problem, thats where it might have come from.  I never saw it posted their, only hear as I don't go over their much.  I didn't think it was you as there was no link provided to ebay and I didn't think you would go under that name, LOL

Deceiving people is a strange way to start a forum, but I am sure it won't last long doing it that way.

Heck, I just post a link to whatever site, no sense in copying it.

Nelson has stated it wasn't him, and I am just wondering if someone has done it to stir the pot and use Nelson as the target, as everyone know Don and him don't get along.

It's got nothing to do with me as it's PM's problem, I was just letting Bill know as I thought it had been taken from here.

Gosh, this is getting pretty deep.
I better get out my waders.

What does any of this have to do with building little models?
Is what we post here so sacrosanct as to rise to this level of acrimony?

Sounds like a bunch of old farts who don't have a life, and need a hobby (such as actually doing something besided trolling the net).

Get a life people.

Just my thoughts.

Writing as a a confirmed old fart of 81, I really suspect that whoever it is is far younger.
My older generation could spell. This lot cannot.

Again, I'm an old British Legion member and wonder whether the RBL knows about 'their involvement'

I'm guessing that this- whatever it is- comes from the other side of the pond.

I don't believe Nelson has anything to do with the post copying.

I have no idea who is responsible and I do not wish to be involved.
