Saw this link on Makezines Blog (http://blog.makezine.com) about "welding" plastic. Looks like a good tip on repairing plastic...

Pretty slick, nice links good to have a list of the solvents in one place! you can grain the surface with a scrap peice of faux leather/vinyl sheet goods just make sure it is solvent safe that you are using.  :dremel:
