Title: Hi from southern tip of Cotswolds, UK.
Post by: SVB on March 15, 2018, 02:45:12 PM
Hi all,

Greetings from Stroud, Glos.

I’m mainly a woodworker but increasingly have wanted to make tools, jigs and simple components to go with my mainly turned wood projects.

I’ve recently decided to my Myford ML7 (message me if interested!) and replace with a Seig SC4 / mini mill combo so I can turn and mill in same foot-print.  Perhaps a retrograde step in terms of build etc but suits my purpose in the limited space I have.

Anyway, pleased to be aboard and looking forward to learning from you all and contributing in any way I can.

Simon

Welcome .I'm curious about the SiegSC4 with a milling attachment especially in view of the MyfordML7.

Thanks to Peter and Bob( KRV3000) I have the earlier S4 now installed in what serves as my study.

Instead of having a dedicated milling attachment, I cannibalised my Myford things to go on my Sieg.

It was nothing more than a bit of 10mm steel as a sub plate and one of my Myford Vertical slides fits quite nicely but a few more holes tapped in the plate allows a fitting of the Geo Thomas small dividing head to go on instead.
With a bit more thought, the old rotary table from Ivan Law/Model Engineering Services will fit-by adding a few more tapped holes.  It is all very much in the 'suck it and see' stage but I guess that another bit of plate will allow the Geo Thomas rear parting tool to go on as well.

Hope that my way of ticking MY boxes will be of interest

Regards

Norm

Sound good. If it works for you then go for it.
