Title: Transformer orientation?
Post by: geoff_p on January 22, 2015, 05:28:20 AM
I really want/need/absolutely-must tidy-up my CNC power cables etc.  At present it looks very much like the original definition of PC = 'Proliferation-of-Cables'

I've got a case from an ancient PSU into which my transformer will fit, along with Rectifiers and Capacitors.  The three Axiis-drivers will mount externally, on top, and ...

There's space for the Arduino inside the case.

Will the field from the transformer have any adverse effect on the Arduino?  Should I try to mitigate it by rotating it as per either/or of the attached sketches?

If the transformer is correctly designed and used the external field should be very low. If however it is 'on the edge' the iron core with leak magnetic field.

That's about what I reckoned but I thought it better to 'play safe' and ask - for once.
