Title: Awesome machined telescopes
Post by: Brass_Machine on June 25, 2016, 02:29:44 PM
I have picked up a new hobby... gazing at the stars and planets through a telescope. I just recently picked up a 4.5" newtonian that does what I want at the present moment (at least until I get aperture fever!)

But, while I was shopping, I found these amazing works of art!

Very nice  but out of my price range. I guess I'll just have to make do with my 90mm goto mak to watch the moon and planets.

Isn't there some sort of rule against machinery porn on here? ;)

Beautiful piece of shiny metal.  Do they work as well as they look?

"New Age refractors" what they have been smoking? I don't like bling, I don't like diamond encrusted DOHA style. To me the design looks like some engineers vomit. I can't tell anything of utitility or quality of that product, because I know absolutely nothing of it. Just that looks is not inviting to use.

Pekka,

If you read the write up in the link you may change your mind.

By your logic, a woman can't be both beautiful and smart at the same time.

Nope, we just have different taste.

I like tools simple and utilitarian. I never would wear too gauldy glasses for example.

My wife wears black or white (they are not colors) clothes, but she is pretty and smart.

What can I tell? I'm not taleban. I just said that I don't like the looks of them, but if someone likes the bling, I totally understand. After all we are odd bunch. Are we?

If Chuck wants to PM me with a cost for a little one in wood I'd definitely consider it

Ralph,
I looked at your linked posting. In a word, Brilliant.
Thanks for the link. Often these old inks get forgotten or just plain not seen by recently joined members.
