Title: Alba 1a shaper question
Post by: Rick O Shea on November 19, 2017, 12:48:36 PM

Hello All,

I recently bought a Alba No1 shaper and have a bit of a question about the clapper box assembly, I have removed the box assembly  and now would like to remove what I presume is the rotating  assembly that holds the clapper box on to the arm.

I have removed both the screws  but the rotating section is incredibly tight and I cannot remove it. I wonder if any one could offer some advice and if possible a scan of the parts drawings showing that bit.

very best wishes

Mike

I don't know if you'ii have to join the Yahoo shaper group to acess the files section, but there is an Alba 1a shaper manual in there!

I've been rooting around a bit and I've found the Elliot10m manual, the Alba is the previous model, and is pretty similar. On the pic below, part N°20 is the locking pin for the swivel, it has to be removed before you can remove the tool holder head.

Cheers, Matthew

Something tells me you have to turn it round to line it up to get t out!! Thinking about it, you may have to tun the tool holder base round to get the locking cam out.
Try that before the next size of hammer.  I took mine apart back in the last century, so my memory is a little vague to say the least!

Good luck, Matthew

 Hi Matthew you were right I had to turn the seized head through 180 degrees and then drive out the seized pin.
But we got there many thanks for your help.

best wishes
